Grading has a cost.  A very high cost.

That cost is your very essence. Unless you have a teaching assistant, you lucky bastard.

Alien vs Predator + Chemistry

Apr 02 2013 Published by under Uncategorized

The lovely folks at Nerd Nite Seattle let me talk about two of my favorite things - scifi & chemistry!  Titled 'Hollywood Hooey: Does chemistry mean Alien tops Predator?', I talked a bit of chemistry and lots of Alien vs. Predator (AVP).  This is the second time I've done a science-of-scifi talk, the first being 'Chemistry for the zombie apocalypse' for Science On Tap.  With both presentations I feared two things - getting blow-back (1) from fellow scientists for (prepare yourself!) "dumbing down" some science thing and (2) from genre fans for getting some detail of the scifi universe wrong.  What I love about these talks is discussing the most out-there stuff in a (somewhat) serious scientific fashion.  Here's hoping I get invited to do more!
